It’s the most STRESSFUL time of the year? Why the festive season isn’t rainbows and butterflies for every family

By Lauren – Gold Coast Mum

This post is brought to you in partnership with Prime Lawyers, however, all opinions are my own.

For many of us, December involves a lot of catching up with friends and family, BBQs, pool fun, trips to the beach, or fun under a good old water sprinkler.

We’re running around organising Christmas gifts, meal plans, menus and doing the grocery shopping to be prepared to have the best day ever after Santa has visited on December 25.

This time of year can also be stressful. Couples may be trying to work out how to pay the bills AND surprise their children with Christmas gifts they’ll adore.

Couples may be fighting about money troubles or other issues, or - for those whose relationships may have already been on their last legs - everything comes to a head and separations take place.

Apparently, many domestic violence victims also gain the strength to leave abusive partners at this time of year.

If that’s the case, for you or someone you know, it pays to be prepared.

Have documents and important items stored safely and seek help from relevant legal and support services as soon as possible.

Prime Lawyers has represented hundreds of family law clients over the years and act for mums, dads, grandmothers, grandfathers, married couples, same-sex couples and de facto couples.
