High chair safety - are your hand-me-downs safe?

High chair safety - are your hand-me-downs safe?

****Updated****
Aaaah was my first reaction when I heard that one of the high chairs we use for our Twincesses has been recalled.

But I have since discovered that the recall I saw all over social media this week (which I thought was important to share!) - was from 2012! Old news!

After seeing posts all over social media about the IKEA ANTILOP high chair recall, I quickly checked the supplier number and production number moulded into the underside of our high chair seat which MATCHED the models being recalled.
An IKEA spokesperson has since confirmed that IKEA at the time had received reports that the belt can open unexpectedly, creating a fall hazard.
"Only ANTILOP high chairs from supplier #17389 with production dates 0607–0911 (YYMM) were affected. The product has since been modified with no further potential hazards or incidences."

"It also proves to be one of the most popular high chairs amongst families."

Phew!
Though I'll still need to get the replacement straps for our high chair as we received it as a hand-me-down and can't verify whether the straps were replaced - as IKEA advised at the time of the recall.
So it's a good reminder for anyone who has old baby items/ hand-me-downs to double check they are safe and still meet safety guidelines.

Meanwhile, here are the details of a CURRENT IKEA recall in place:

IKEA urges customers who have a GUNGGUNG children’s swing to immediately remove the swing from children and bring it back to any IKEA store where they will receive a full refund.

IKEA has received reports of incidents showing that the suspension fittings on GUNGGUNG swing do not live up to IKEA quality requirements posing a risk of serious injury.
GUNGGUNG children’s swing has been sold on all IKEA markets since 1st March 2014.
The GUNGGUNG swing can be returned to any IKEA store for a full refund. Proof of purchase (receipt) is not required for a full refund.

Surely I'm not the only worry wart around?

Surely I'm not the only worry wart around?

That moment when kindy calls & you're holding your breathe, worried sick that your child is hurt or unwell...

Kindy: "Hi Lauren, it's Miss (teacher) from (kindy)..."

Me: "Hi, yesss???"

Kindy: "We're just calling to check..."

(Me still thinking omg omg is everything ok?)

Kindy: "that (Mr 2)..."

(Me thinking oh no oh no, what has he done, poor lil guy.)

Kindy: ..."has a different lunchbox today. Is it the new blue one?"

Me: Phewwwww! "Oh yes. Phew. Sorry. Yes it is a new blue Tupperware one. I forgot to label it".

Aaah can breathe easy now!

Do you also worry if/when kindy/school calls?!

Has your child/children ever been hurt at school/kindy? How quickly can you get to them?
